Book Description:

“The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.

But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting. He’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming…

This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.

It wants the truth.”

A Man Called OVE: Top 10 Book Quotes

I haven’t done this in a while, so here we go…

A Man Called Ove

by Fredrik Backman

untitled

Book description:

“A grumpy yet loveable man finds his solitary world turned on its head when a boisterous young family moves in next door.

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon, the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him the bitter neighbor from hell, but must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?

Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a local residents’ association to their very foundations.”

10.

“Loving someone is like moving into a house,” Sonja used to say. “At first you fall in love with all the new things, amazed every morning that all this belongs to you, as if fearing that someone would suddenly come rushing in through the door to explain that a terrible mistake had been made, you weren’t actually supposed to live in a wonderful place like this. Then over the years the walls become weathered, the wood splinters here and there, and you start to love that house not so much because of all its perfection, but rather for its imperfections. You get to know all the nooks and crannies. How to avoid getting the key caught in the lock when it’s cold outside. Which of the floorboards flex slightly when one steps on them or exactly how to open the wardrobe doors without them creaking. These are the little secrets that make it your home.”

The Mortal Instruments City of Bones Top 5 Funniest Book Quotes.

The Mortal Instruments Book 1 City of Bones

by Cassandra Clare

“Sarcasm is the last refuge of the imaginatively bankrupt.”

the mortal instruments

Book Description:

“When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?”

-From GoodReads.com

(I don’t like this Book Cover)

I read this book a while ago, way before the rumors of a TV series started (at least to my knowledge). And I actually enjoyed them. I’ve scene the first two episodes of the show, and well… I have no opinion…(Well, I do, but that’s for another post). For the record I think the movie was awesome.

I don’t remember making a review about this book. But you should know that I read those books in no time (meaning the whole series). I just loved them. I haven’t read Lady Midnight yet and I’m not sure I will, because I’m just not in the mood to get back on that series again. But maybe, someday, I’ll read it.

Anyways Cassandra Clare’s writing can be really sarcastically funny at times and that’s what this post is about. There are so many funny things the characters say in the books that I couldn’t help myself.

So here are My Top 5 Funniest Book Quotes from The Mortal Instruments City of Bones.

1.

“Have you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?’
Jace said, “Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself.”
…”At least,” she said, “you don’t have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland.”
“Not necessarily. I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting.”

2.

“Is this the part where you start tearing off strips of your shirt to bind my wounds?”
“If you wanted me to rip my clothes off, you should have just asked.”

3.

“You’re an idiot.”
“I’ve never claimed to be otherwise.”

4.

“Don’t.” Clary raised a warning hand. “I’m not really in the mood right now.”
“That’s got to be the first time a girl’s ever said that to me,” Jace mused.”

5.

“Are you trying to get run over by a cab?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. We could never get a cab that easily in this neighborhood.”

There are wayyyy more, the book is full of them. If you haven’t read the books I highly recommend them.

Book description

“A boy with extraordinary powers. An army of deadly monsters. An epic battle for the future of peculiardom.

The adventure that began with Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and continued in Hollow City comes to a thrilling conclusion with Library of Souls. As the story opens, sixteen-year-old Jacob discovers a powerful new ability, and soon he’s diving through history to rescue his peculiar companions from a heavily guarded fortress. Accompanying Jacob on his journey are Emma Bloom, a girl with fire at her fingertips, and Addison MacHenry, a dog with a nose for sniffing out lost children.

They’ll travel from modern-day London to the labyrinthine alleys of Devil’s Acre, the most wretched slum in all of Victorian England. It’s a place where the fate of peculiar children everywhere will be decided once and for all. Like its predecessors, Library of Souls blends thrilling fantasy with never-before-published vintage photography to create a one-of-a-kind reading experience.”
