Book Description:

“Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a strange package with his name on it lying on his porch. Hannah’s voice tells him that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he’ll find out why.

Clay spends the night crisscrossing his town with Hannah as his guide. He becomes a firsthand witness to Hannah’s pain, and as he follows Hannah’s recorded words throughout his town, what he discovers changes his life forever.”

My Review:

First of all, I should say that I read this book in the worst moment of my life. (so far) Now, I did enjoyed the book but I’m not sure if I kept reading it for the interest of the story,  the allure of the mystery or if I just kept reading because a lot of parts felt so relatable in such a terrible way.

Thirteen Reasons Why its definitely a book that shouldn’t be read by everyone. Why? Because it feels too raw. If you’ve gone trough some of the stuff mention in it, like suicidal thoughts, rape, bullying, etc. you shouldn’t read it. (Not saying I went through all of that. We are not gonna get that real here. lol) I think this book should come with a lot of warnings.

Since the show came out last month I think, I don’t know, the show has gotten some heat for that. Because even though the book feels so raw, the show took it a little bit further. At least that’s what a friend told me. I only saw the first three episodes. And I don’t think I’m going to watch the rest. There are scenes in the book that I don’t want to see in the show. Plus to be honest, the first three episode kind of bored me. I think it’s because in the book everything happens in a day, and in the show it takes way longer. I know they do it for obvious reasons, but it was a little annoying.

Anyways this post is about the book not the show, so let’s get back to that. The writing was good but the book in general… I don’t know, maybe is just me… But I don’t recommend it. I gave it 3 stars on GoodReads.com But I still wouldn’t recommend it.

Read it if you want, but remember that what we read shapes us and influence us in our daily life. So, be careful.
