Delighting in God
By A.W. Tozer
Compiled and edited by James L. Snyder
Delighting in God is a compel of writings by A.W. Tozer. Every chapter ends with a hymn. Well… that’s pretty much it.
To be honest this book was not for me. It is obviously oriented to the fans of Tozer.
It criticizes a little bit. I don’t like pointing it out, but it does. Also, not loving the writing, some sentences felt weirdly constructed. I’m not the best writer (you can see that through my blog posts) but even I could see some things. This book does have some good quotes (at least as far as I read) that you can take out of it and that’s great, I guess. Definitely not my thing.
Anyways if you’re not a fan of Tozer I don’t recommend it. But if you are a fan, then go ahead, you’ll love it.
Here are some quotes that I liked:
“Paul did not expect the world to treat him any better than people treated Christ”
“If we can understand a man’s passion, we can begin to understand why he does or does not do certain things.”
“a person is known by the passion that drives him day after day through thick and thin.”
“… your passion for God will determine your lifestyle.”
“It is simply not enough to know about God. We must know God in increasing levels of intimacy that lift us above all reason and into adoration and praise and worship.”
This book was given to me by Bethany House Publishing in exchange of an honest review.
